You’re Allowed to be Sad

We shouldn’t need a reminder, but we do.

The world is so busy telling us to “just do it” or “put on a happy face” or “think positive” that we begin to wonder if maybe we’ve got this grieving thing all wrong.

We don’t.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being sad your child is not here.

Nothing.

Not. One. Thing.

you're allowed to be sad

  1. Amen! I hear and see the phrase: “Choose joy” all the time. Friends mean well and are encouraging, but mist of the time I cannot choose joy, definitely cannot on my own. Joy is a gift of grace and hope💙💛

  2. Thank you, Melanie~ 8 yrs and one month into this, I find that the sadness is here to stay~ woven in and out of the fabric of my life~ some days, it’s not with me. Other days, it hits; boy, does it hit. I think it will always be my unwanted friend this side of heaven. Thank you for your faithfulness in writing, and I hope things are going better💗

  3. I was at my family reunion this weekend and a sweet cousin of mine said; it’s still it your thoughts every day, isn’t it? I said Yes… he said, it’s a daily reminder, a daily hurt…. and gave me a big hug. 12 years this October and that hurt, that emptiness never leaves you. Thank you for this post of “You’re Allowed to be Sad”.
