“Death Ends a Life, Not a Relationship”

“Death ends a life, not a relationship.” ~ Tuesdays with Morrie

A parent’s love doesn’t end simply because a child leaves this earth.

The relationship is not over as long as a  bereaved parent’s heart beats.

i carry your heart ee cummingsSo we face a challenge:  How do we express love to and honor relationship with a child out of sight and out of reach.

We tell our stories and theirs.  We start foundations or fund scholarships or do Random Acts of Kindness in honor of our son or daughter.  We lobby legislators and city councils.  We fight for changes in medical protocol. We post pictures on social media to keep their lights bright in friends’ and family’s memories.

And we say their names.

Because death can take a body, but it can’t steal a relationship.

I am a shepherd, wife and mother of four amazing children, three that walk the earth with me and one who lives with Jesus. This is a record of my grief journey and a look into the life I didn't choose. 1. Yes we fight. On 17th of next month I have been invited as a keynote speaker as the lived experience representative of a streeting group I sit on for Suicide Prevention. I will be speaking to an audience of around 60 professionals, telling Luke’s story…..scary.
I have barely got the introduction written so far and to tell it in 15 minutes is going to be a challenge. I guess the day is going to be very emotional and exhausting. I am praying the Holy Spirit will uphold me and direct me. xxx

    1. Carol, what a privilege to honor Luke and help others understand a bit better. You will be wonderful. Praying for you, my friend. May the Lord give you the words and the strength to say them. May He go before you and prepare hearts to receive them. May He place strategic people in your path to encourage you as you prepare. ❤
