Thanks For The Lift Friends!

Thank you for the outpouring of encouragement, kindness and prayers.

You’ve breathed new life into this old and weary soul.

I can’t really walk away. Writing is what I do, it’s how I process life-the good, the bad, the sweet and the bitter.

But crafting posts is more than stream of consciousness journaling not meant to be read by another soul. It’s sitting with an idea long enough to be able to present it to others in a form they can understand, appropriate and use in their own lives.

It takes time.

So for the next two weeks (maybe longer) I’m going to recycle old posts and give my heart space to do some of its own processing and healing.

For many of you, they will still feel new because you joined us recently.

For some of you, they will be old and tired and not worth your time. Feel free to skip them.

I promise to alert you when I’m writing new things again.

~Melanie

P.S. If anyone has ideas on which topics might be interesting to gather and repost all in a row, add them in the comments. I did this once with *Prayer* and folks enjoyed it.

  1. Melanie, My daughter went ahead to heaven just a few months before your Dominick. I have your posts emailed and read them daily. I have since very early on. Your reposts are just as uplifting as the new ones. Most times as I read the reposts I get a different perspective, being further along in my grief journey. We all understand how important it is to step back at times and to refocus on yourself. Take your time, try to find that inner peace. We will be here when you are ready.⭐

    1. Thank you so much! It may sound funny to others since I write the posts, but I have the same reaction when I reread them-something different or new stands out to me. May the Lord continue to give you strength for each new day, dear heart. ❤

  3. Melanie, I’ve so appreciated your posts these last 3 and 1/2 years that my Joe has been gone. Your outpouring of your heart has blessed me in so many ways. In the fog and confusion you always brought hope and light. In the craziness and the doubt you always helped me to see that it was okay to feel this way. In the doubt you always gave the word which brought hope. Take care of yourself for however long you need. Know that you have helped so many of us walking the same path on the life we did not choose. Thank you.

    1. Thank you. It’s my prayer with every post that someone, somewhere is encouraged and helped by the words. God has graciously poured into me and I want to be a river not a dammed up lake. ❤

  5. Thank you, Melanie, recycling posts is wonderful for us. As you say, for some these will be new. For others of us, we will read and comprehend now in ways we did not when you first posted. Since grief alters our ability for concentration and clarity, we may not have remembered what you first wrote – we will read in these coming days and find renewed strength and encouragement in re-reading. Whether reading for the first time or not, re-posting will offer the same light and support for us while you take the much needed time to care for you. Prayers for you daily.

    1. Thank you for that! I tend to feel a little guilty recycling old posts but taking a break from creating new material is something I really need right now. I truly appreciate your sharing how they still help your heart, even if you’ve seen them before. ❤

  8. Thank you for your kind words. I lost my son, Marquis, three years this November 15 to bacterial meningitis. He and his wife had a baby boy, Marquis LaFayette Martin, IV. He was six months old. My son said his family and now his dream of a son had come true . He taught our family about forgiveness and unconditional love. We haven’t been the same since we lost him.

My heart understands the pain and hurt that you feel. It never goes away , but our precious Father gives us more time for peace. I could not survive without my faith in God or prayers from so many. I have two other sons and admit I am guilty of not being there for them because I don’t know how to comfort them when I feel like I do not know m who I am anymore. I read and send a copy of your entire mom blog to my boys in hopes they will understand that I’m not crazy. I can’t tell you how many times that I have said that if m y Mother were here that this journey might not be as painful except her heart would be broken, too. Please keep writing became you are needed and God FB is guiding you to lessen the pain of others like me. May God continue to give you strength and encouragement to help others like me who are going through the same journey. I know God never leaves the broken hearted, so we are never alone. God bless you 🙏🏻❤️

  9. Thank Melanie ! Please do continue to post – Its been so helpful reading your articles. I’m only 5 months into this awful journey, so anything you recycle will be new to me. I really appreciate your strong faith in God and I learned a lot from your posts – very helpful.

Could you please send me the link/file to the 30 days of scripture reading. I’ve tried to look for the entire series on your blog but I can only get a few of the posts. (Could not find the search function for some reason)

    Blessings! Andrea
